With current events in the U.S. I am reminded of our history forgotten. Back in the 50's & 60's when we scared our children with the bedtime stories of communist under the in the closet, a time not quoted by every group as a dark time in history, yet we repeat this scenario again and again only with new players.
Now, American Politian’s are forming 'Islam Terror Hearings' to investigate the radicalization of sliver of our population, an act that smacks & tears open the scars made by McCarthy-esque hearings over sixty years ago. I watch from the safety of my computer screen as video shows me Christians in California, Ohio, New York taunt and threaten Muslim Americans praying, going to Mosque, waking and living the American Dream. I see a man kneeling for prayer being yelled at as a terrorist, devil, heathen by people without the toughness of skin or convictions to turn the other cheek. Could you pray as you were taunted by such closed minded people, could you give your devotion to a country that allows the fools of the mob to rule and dictate the tone of the discussion.
I work everyday with those that pray to a wooden god on the cross that the American Jebus will arrive with the second coming, riding an armored Hummer & draped in an American Flag bringing death to 'our' enemies. There was a time I thought I did not believe in God, but now I know that I do, I just do not like his fan club.
Now, congressman King (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/07/islam-terror-hearings-mccarthy-witchhunt) rears his head from the muck and begins a campaign to 'investigate' those he deems un-American or not American enough to live in his country. I have seen this movie. Black list, interment camps, they are in Kings long term plans. What else can come of his power grab on the fearful and deluded masses of land of the free?
I remember the old ethics question from college, what if you could go back in time to the 1920's to a beer house in German. Inside you find a little German corporal loudly talking to his friends that the problems with Germany all stem from the Jews and their evil ways, his little odd mustache quivering under his nose as he continued to spew evil with a purpose. What would you do? Kill him? This would not have done a thing to stop WWII of the Holocaust. No, some other mouthpiece would have taken his place, spewing the same bile verbatim just as our new agencies do today for both political parties. The answer is a tough one, you must be vigelant about these people and their plans. You must make a stand where ever you see injustice, be it the Westboro church, racist in your church or polotitians spewing hate wrapped in the flag.
King is one of many that have an agenda, have one as well.
